Shiranie Perera
Born in Sri Lanka, Shiranie Perera has lived in the U.S. for nearly four decades. Inspired by the works of Henri Matisse, Jackson Pollock, and Mark Rothko, Shiranie experiments with acrylic paint on canvas and wood, using various materials to apply and manipulate the paint. The practice of painting is a consistent source of uplift for Shiranie, and she hopes that those who see her works experience a similar joy. “Shirankala” is a portmanteau referencing the courtly painters of medieval Lanka.
